The Muslim community of Cape Town (and the broader South Africa) is blessed with a wealth of musical talent with nasheed and qasā’id being very strongly established in Cape Town in particular.
Burāq Records was set up in 2004 initially to produce, promote and market the albums of Wahied Kannemeyer throughout South Africa. Burāq Records now sees a broader role for itself and seeks to showcase the rich cultural heritage of Islam and talents of our local artists to the South African public as well as to the broader Muslim community worldwide in an organised, professional and creative manner.
We are committed to the production and distribution of uplifting Islamic and spiritual songs and quite willing offer advice about the initial recording of an album through to design, packaging, marketing, advertising and promotion of the final product.
